Changelog

Everything that has shipped, in order.

  1. Feature0.1.0

    Initial release: transactional email API

    Rovela 0.1.0

The first public release of Rovela's email platform.

    Core sending API

Send transactional email over HTTPS with a single POST request. Supports text, html, and multipart/alternative bodies, cc, bcc, reply-to, and custom headers.

    Domain verification and DKIM signing

Add any domain you control, publish three DNS records, and Rovela signs every outbound message with a 2048-bit DKIM key automatically. Keys are rotated on demand from the dashboard.

    Delivery tracking

Every sent message gets a unique ID. Query its status at any time, or subscribe to webhooks for real-time delivered, bounced, opened, and clicked events.

    Bounce and complaint handling

Hard bounces and spam complaints are processed automatically and added to the suppression list. Subsequent sends to suppressed addresses are rejected before they reach the MTA, protecting your sender reputation.

    Inbound routing

Point your domain's MX record at Rovela's mail server to receive inbound email. Messages are parsed, stored, and available via the API within seconds of arrival.

    Webhook delivery with signatures

Subscribe to any event type and receive signed payloads at your endpoint. Signatures use HMAC-SHA256 so you can verify the payload came from Rovela before acting on it.

  2. Feature0.2.0

Webmail, full-text search, and attachment support

    What's new in 0.2.0

    Webmail client

Rovela now ships a full webmail interface at mail.rovela.dev. Read, compose, reply, forward, and manage multiple inboxes from your browser — no email client required. The webmail uses the same API your code calls, so everything you see there is exactly what your integration sends and receives.

    Full-text search

Search across subject, sender, and recipient fields in any folder. Results are returned in reverse chronological order with the folder they came from clearly labelled.

    Attachment support

Inbound and outbound attachments are now handled end-to-end. The API accepts attachments on the send endpoint; the webmail displays them inline where safe (images, PDFs) and offers a download link for everything else.

    Multi-select bulk actions

Select multiple messages and apply actions — mark read, move to folder, delete — in one step.

    Remote image blocking

The webmail blocks remote images by default. A one-click prompt lets the reader load them when they want to, rather than silently sending a tracking pixel back to the sender on every open.
