Guide

Use your mailbox in any mail app

Rovela mailboxes speak standard IMAP and SMTP, so Outlook, Apple Mail on iPhone and Mac, Thunderbird and Android mail apps all work. You need the server settings below and a credential for each device.

First, create a credential

Mail apps do not sign in with your Rovela account password. Each device gets its own credential instead, so losing a phone means revoking one credential, not changing a password everywhere.

  1. 01In the dashboard, open Mailboxes and choose Credentials on the mailbox.
  2. 02Choose New credential and give it a label such as iPhone or Thunderbird.
  3. 03Copy the password that appears. It is shown once and cannot be retrieved later.
  4. 04To cut a device off, revoke its credential. The others keep working.

In your app

Outlook

Add an account, enter the address, and when asked for the account type choose IMAP. Enter the incoming and outgoing servers above; both use the same username and password.

iPhone and iPad

Settings, Mail, Accounts, Add Account, Other, Add Mail Account. Choose IMAP, then fill in the incoming and outgoing servers with the settings above.

Thunderbird

Add a mail account, enter the address and credential, then choose Configure manually. Set IMAP to port 993 and SMTP to port 465, both SSL/TLS with normal password.

Android

In Gmail or your phone's mail app, add an account of type Other or Personal (IMAP). Use the settings above for both servers.

Or skip the setup

Webmail needs no settings at all: sign in with your Rovela account and every mailbox you have access to is there, including shared ones.

Troubleshooting

The app says the password is wrong.
Make sure it is a credential from the Credentials page, not your Rovela sign-in password, and that the username is the full address. A revoked credential stops working at once.
I can receive but not send.
Check the outgoing server uses port 465 with SSL/TLS and that authentication is on, with the same username and password as incoming.
Is there a size limit?
A single message, attachments included, can be up to 10 MiB.
Where does spam go?
Incoming mail is checked for spam and viruses. Likely spam is delivered to the Junk folder, which your mail app shows like any other folder.
